Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: ready biodegradability
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
03 December 2020 - 07 January 2021
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 301 B (Ready Biodegradability: CO2 Evolution Test)
GLP compliance:
yes
Inoculum or test system:
activated sludge, non-adapted
Details on inoculum:
Activated sludge from a biologic sewage treatment plant was used as inoculum. The chosen sewage treatment plant treats mostly domestic sewage.
Duration of test (contact time):
28 d
Initial conc.:
1 770.4 mg/L
Based on:
TOC
Parameter followed for biodegradation estimation:
CO2 evolution
Reference substance:
aniline
Key result
Parameter:
% degradation (inorg. C analysis)
Value:
27
St. dev.:
9.5
Sampling time:
28 d
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Interpretation of results:
inherently biodegradable
Conclusions:
The test item ColaTeric CNA-40 was tested using a concentration of nominally 20 mg organic carbon/L ColaTeric CNA-40 in test medium following OECD 301B and EU-Method C.4-C.

Because the test item is a UVCB, the 10-day window does not have to be taken in to account. Degradation at the end of the test was 27%. As degradation missed the pass level of 60% in the course of the test, ColaTeric CNA-40 is considered as not readily biodegradable within 28 days.

Description of key information

The test item ColaTeric CNA-40 was tested using a concentration of nominally 20 mg organic carbon/L ColaTeric CNA-40 in test medium following OECD 301B and EU-Method C.4-C.

Because the test item is a UVCB, the 10-day window does not have to be taken in to account. Degradation at the end of the test was 27%. As degradation missed the pass level of 60% in the course of the test, ColaTeric CNA-40 is considered as not readily biodegradable within 28 days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
inherently biodegradable
Type of water:
freshwater
