Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

IF IN EYES:       Rinse cautiously with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes with the eyelid held wide open. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Do not rub eyes: mechanical action may cause corneal damage. Immediately call an Ophthalmologist.

IF ON SKIN (or hair):       Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with soap and plenty of water. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If skin looks altered or a large amount of product has been released, seek for immediate medical attention.

IF SWALLOWED:       Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Immediately call the closest  POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.

IF INHALED:              Move victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Immediately call the closest POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA:

SUITABLE:                            CO2, Foam, Water Spray, Dry Chem.

UNSUITABLE:                       Do not use solid water stream. It could scatter and spread fire.

SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE  SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE:       Toxic gases, oxides of carbon may be released during combustion, that are heavier than air and may spread along floors. The material as shipped does not pone explosion hazard because it does not contain functional groups associated with explosive properties.

ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS:       Water, foam, Dry Chem and CO2 can be used  for fire isolation and extinguishment. Surroundings exposed to intense heat deriving from fire should be kept cool with water to prevent fire spreading. Remove other combustible materials from fire area if possible. Stay upwind, keep out of low areas. Wear goggles and a positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective equipment.

Accidental release measures

FOR NON-EMERGENCY PERSONNEL:       In case of accidental release avoid contact with poured substance and do not walk on the contaminated area: it can be slippery and a wider area can be contaminated. Avoid vapors/aerosols inhalation and ensure supply of fresh air in enclosed room.

FOR EMERGENCY RESPONDERS:      Keep non trained personnel away from the area where the release took place. Remove any  flame or open fire if present. Wear adequate clothing and protection to proceed to cleaning up (refer to section 8 for personal protection).

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS:       Avoid dispersion of substances into drains, surface, ground water and sewerage system.

METHODS AND MATERIALS FOR  CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP:       Stem poured product. Pick it up with liquid-sorbent material and place into drums or other suitable container for disposal. Flush with water or vacuum-clean the contaminated area after removal of substance.

ADEQUATE CONTAINMENT TECHNIQUES:                     Contain spilled material. Vacuum the material or collect the substance with an absorbent material and place it in drums or other suitable containers for disposal. Finish cleaning the surface contaminated with detergent.

RECOVERY PROCEDURES APPROVED:   Substance is soluble in water: if a large quantity of substance is           accidentally released into the aquatic environment, drains, soil, groundwater, inform the authorities. Water runoff can cause environmental damage.

Handling and storage

SAFE HANDLING:                                  Do not breath vapors and avoid vapors/aerosols generation by using general and local exhaustive aspiration. If it is not sufficient be equipped with approved masks. Wear protective gloves, protective cloths with long sleeves and eye and face protection in order to avoid any skin contact with the substance.

ANY INCOMPATIBILITIES:       Avoid contact with alkaline substances and strong oxidizers.

DANGEROUS OPERATIONS AND CONDITIONS AND RELATED COUNTERMEASURES:       Avoid breathing fumes / gases / fog / vapors / aerosols.

ENVIRONMENTAL RELEASE CONTROL:Keep the container tightly closed. Avoid dispersion in the environment. Handle away from drains.

7.1.2 RECOMMENDATIONS ON HYGIENE

TO BE KEPT IN WORKPLACES:                        Do not eat, drink and smoke in the areas where material is stored, handled, processed. Personnel handling the material should wash  hands before eating, drinking and smoking.

7.2. CONDITIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE, INCLUDING

ANY INCOMPATIBILITIES:

Ensure that packaging is not damaged and is well closed.  Store in cool (below 40°C), dry, well-ventilated, area away from heat sources, flame, spark sources, moisture, amines, alkaline or strong oxidizing materials.

Exposure controls / personal protection

INDIVIDUAL PROTECTION MEASURES,SUCH AS PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPEMENT:

EYE PROTECTION:         Tightly fit safety goggles and wear a face shield if there is a reasonable risk of splash to the face. Equipment should be conform to EN 166.

SKIN PROTECTION:       Wear suitable industrial clothing depending on the kind of processing in order to avoid any skin contact.

HAND PROTECTION:         Wear approved protective gloves according to EN 374 protection level 6. Examples are:  nitrile rubber (thickness 0,55 mm, penetration time > 480 min) or polyvinylchloride / nitrile rubber (thickness 0,9 mm, penetration time > 480 min). Depending on processing /manipulation gloves approved according to EN 388 may be required.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:       Wear appropriate mask if vapors are generated by heated substance  during processing: use “A” type filters approved for gas and organic substances, according to EN 143 and EN 140 or  EN 136.

ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE CONTROL:       If possible use in closed systems. If leakage can not be prevented, the substance needs to be sucked off. Observe the exposure limits, clean exhausted air if needed. In case recycling is not possible, dispose off in compliance with local regulations. Inform the responsible authorities in case of leakage into the atmosphere, or of entry into waterways, soil or drains.

Stability and reactivity

REACTIVITY:       Reacts with strong reducing and oxidizing agents, amines, bases and strong acids.

CHEMICAL STABILITY:                     Stable under normal  storage conditions.

POSSIBILITY OF HAZARDOUS REACTIONS:       Not expected in normal storage and use conditions

CONDITIONS TO AVOID:       Flames,  ignition sources,  excessive heat.

INCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS:              Strong oxidizing agents, bases and strong acids.

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION  PRODUCTS:       Carbon oxides during combustion.

Disposal considerations

Dispose residues and packaging in accordance with local and state laws. Dispose of hazardous products according to European Waste Catalogue (EWC).
