- - Sampling method: Duplicate samples from the freshly prepared test media of all test concentrations and the control were taken at the start of the test and at the test water renewal on day 1. For the determination of the stability of the test item under the test conditions and of the maintenance of the test item concentrations during the test period, duplicate samples from the aged test media of all test concentrations and the control were collected at day 1 (after 24 hours of exposure) and at the end of the test by pouring together the contents of the test beakers of each treatment. The pH value was adjusted to pH 2 with nitric acid directly after sampling.
Additional samples of the aged control were taken at day one without any sample treatment.

- Preparation of the control: In the control, test water was used without addition of the test item.
Peparation of the test solutions: The test medium of the highest test concentration of nominal 2 mg test item/L was prepared by dissolving 9.9 and 10.2 mg test item into 4950 and 5100 mL test water by intense stirring for 1 hour and 30 minutes and 1 hour and 15 minutes and ultrasonic treatment for 10 minutes. Adequate volumes of this test medium were diluted with test water to prepare the test media of the other desired test concentrations.
The test media were prepared just before introduction of the daphnids (= start of the test) and test medium renewal on Day 1. - Test organisms (species):

- After 48 hours of exposure, no immobilisation of the test animals was observed in the control. At concentrations of 0.0423 and 0.0836 mg test item/L, one animal was immobile. At a concentration of 0.142 mg test item/L, four animals were immobile. 13 and 18 animals were immobile at concentrations of 0.296 and 1.49 mg test item/L.
The validity criteria of the study were met. The control immobilisation rate was 0% and furthermore no daphnid showed signs of disease or stress. - Executive summary:
The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of the test item, tribasic copper sulphate on the mobility of Daphnia magna. For this purpose, young daphnids (< 24 hours old) were exposed in a semi-static test to various concentrations under defined conditions for 48 hours in accordance with OECD Guidelines No. 202. The recorded effects were the mobility of the daphnids after 24 and 48 hours.
After 48 hours of exposure, no immobilisation of the test animals was observed in the control. At concentrations of 0.0423 and 0.0836 mg test item/L, one animal was immobile. At a concentration of 0.142 mg test item/L, four animals were immobile. 13 and 18 animals were immobile at concentrations of 0.296 and 1.49 mg test item/L.
The 48-hour NOEC was determined to be 0.0836 mg test item/L. The 48-hour LOEC was determined to be 0.142 mg test item/L and the 48-hour EC50 value was calculated to be 0.295 mg test item/L.
The initial concentrations and the maintenance of the exposure concentrations during the test were verified in the analytical part. All reported results refer to geometric mean concentrations, since the test item concentrations were not within ± 20 % of the nominal concentrations during the test.
