- The oxidising properties of diytterbium trioxide were investigated according to the UN O.1 test method in compliance with GLP. The mean times of reaction with the test item / cellulose mixtures in ratios 4:1 and 1:1 were higher than the mean times of reaction measured during this study for the potassium bromate / cellulose mixtures in ratios 3:7, 2:3 and 3:2. Therefore, the test can be considered as negative, and the substance is not considered as an oxidising solid of Division 5.1, is not assigned to any packing group, and is not classified as an oxidising solid under the CLP regulation. The deviation from the guideline observed during the study is not considered to have affected the quality or the interpretation of the results obtained.

In the study of Demangel (2017b) performed according to the UN O.1 test guideline, the observed deviation from the guideline (particle size of potassium bromate) is not considered to have affected the quality or the interpretation of the results obtained, hence, the results of the study are considered reliable without restrictions.
Justification for classification or non-classification
The mean reaction times of test item and cellulose mixtures in ratios 4:1 and 1:1 were higher than the mean reaction times measured for the potassium bromate and cellulose mixtures in ratios 3:7, 2:3 and 3:2 in the GLP study performed according to the UN O.1 guideline (Klimisch 1, Demangel, 2017b). Therefore, diytterbium trioxide was not considered as an oxidising solid of Division 5.1 and was thus not assigned to any packing group and not classified as an oxidising solid under the CLP regulation.
