Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

- General advice:
Protect yourself and any casualty from further exposure during decontamination. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. Remove contaminated clothing.

- Following inhalation:
Remove persons to fresh air. Keep patient at rest and give oxygen if breathing difficult. Apply artificial respiration if necessary (do not employ mouth-to-mouth method). Appropriate mechanical means should be used (Pneupac or bag and mask). Treat symptomatically.

- Following skin contact:
Wash affected skin with plenty water. Seek medical treatment if casualty appears affected.

- Following eye contact:
Irrigate with eyewash solution or clean water, holding the eyelids apart, for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first five minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Seek medical treatment.

- Following ingestion:
If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious). Do not induce vomiting. Keep patient at rest. Seek medical treatment.

- Most important symptoms and effects:
Seek medical treatment when anyone has symptoms apparently due to swallowing, inhalation or contact with skin or eyes.

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media:
Extinguish with waterspray, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.
Waterspray should be used to cool containers.

- Unsuitable extinguishing media:
None

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Combustion causes toxic fumes. Keep containers cool by spraying with water if exposed to fire.

- Advice for fire fighter:
A self contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing should be worn in fire conditions. Prevent substance entering sewers. Contain effluent and prevent effluent from entering sewers and waterways.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions:
Ensure suitable personal protection (including respiratory protection) during removal of spillages.

- Protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Use non-sparking equipment. Follow site emergency procedures.

- Environmental precautions:
Avoid release to the environment. Contain effluent and prevent effluent from entering sewers and waterways.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Sweep up carefully with non-sparking tools. Transfer to a container for disposal.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling:
Use only in well-ventilated areas. Avoid dust generation. Do not breathe dust. Avoid direct contact with the substance. Wear suitable protective clothing.

- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Keep container tightly closed, in a cool, well ventilated place. Keep containers properly sealed when not in use.

Keep in a cool place.

Keep away from: Strong oxidising agents.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures
Provide adequate ventilation when using the material and follow the principles of good occupational hygiene to control personal exposures. Control dust formation

2. Organisational protection measures
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after using the product. Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.

3. Hand protection
Gloves: Latex / nitrile rubber. Glove performance is governed by many variables over which we have no control, we strongly recommend that you seek specialist advice on the selection and use of protective gloves. Note: Break-through times can vary depending on thickness, use and source. Change gloves regularly.

4. Feet protection
Chemical resistant boots - anti-static footwear; safety boots, riggers or safety wellingtons

5. Body protection
Wear suitable protective clothing, impervious gloves and boots.

6. Eye protection
Goggles giving complete protection to the eyes.

7. Respiratory protection
Where engineering controls are not fitted or inadequate wear suitable respiratory protective equipment. E.g. EN 14387 (EC)

Stability and reactivity

1. Reactivity
No Data

2. Chemical stability
Stable under normal conditions

3. Possibility of hazardous reactions
No data.

4. Conditions to avoid
Avoid contact with heat and ignition sources.

5. Incompatible materials
Do not mix with strong oxidizing agents.

6. Hazardous decomposition products
Toxic gases/vapours. Eg. Carbon oxides.

Disposal considerations

Dispose of this material and its container to hazardous or special waste collection point. Disposal may be carried out by diluting the waste with a suitable solvent and burning under controlled conditions at a licensed waste material processor; stack gases will need to be scrubbed.
Disposal should be in accordance with local, state or national legislation.
