Description of key information
Appearance / physical state / colour:
The appearance of Acid fuchsin was observed to be Olive to dark olive-green/dark green colored, odorless solid crystalline powder organic compound.
Melting point/ Freezing point:
The substance Acid fuchsin decomposes when heated and the decomposition temperature was determined to be > 130 °C.
Boiling point:
The substance Acid fuchsin decomposes when heated and the decomposition temperature was determined to be > 130 °C. Therefore the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid which decomposes befor boiling and the boiling point study considered to be waiver.
Density:
The density of chemical Acid fuchsin was estimated to be 1.74 ± 0.1 g/cm3
Particle size distribution (Granulometry):
The particle size distribution of Acid fuchsin was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 146 micron to 51 micron
Vapour pressure:
The estimated vapour pressure of the substance Acid fuchsin at 25 deg C was 2.48E-030 Pa.
Partition coefficient:
The Log P (octanol-water) of 3-(1-(4-amino-3-methyl-5-sulphonatophenyl)-1-(4-amino-3-sulphonatophenyl)methylene)cyclohexa-1,4-dienesulphonic acid is estimated to be -9.76. Based on the estimated value, chemical 3-(1-(4 -amino-3-methyl-5-sulphonatophenyl)-1-(4-amino-3-sulphonatophenyl)methylene)cyclohexa-1,4-dienesulphonic acid can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.
Water solubility:
The water solubility of Acid fuchsin was determined to be 10000.0 mg/L at 20 °C.
Surface tension:
Based on the prediction done by ACD labs, the surface tension for chemical Acid fuchsin was predicted to be 82.4 ± 7.0 dyne/cm
Flash point:
The substance Acid fuchsin decomposes when heated and the decomposition temperature was determined to be > 130 °C.
Hence, the study does not need to be conducted because decomposition occured during the study of melting point and the flash point study considered to be waiver.
Autoflammability:
Acid fuchsin did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that Acid fuchsin is not auto-flammable.
Flammability:
Acid fuchsin does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that Acid fuchsin is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus Acid fuchsin was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.
Explosiveness:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.
Oxidising properties:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidizing properties and hence the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
pH:
pH of 10 g/L concentration Acid fuchsin was determined to be in the range of 3-4 at 20 °C.
Additional information
Appearance / physical state / colour:
Based on available data from handbooks and authoritative databases, the appearance of Acid fuchsin was observed to be Olive to dark olive-green/dark green colored, odorless solid crystalline powder organic compound.
Melting point/ Freezing point:
Based on available data from authoritative database Gestis, the substance Acid fuchsin decomposes when heated and the decomposition temperature was determined to be > 130 °C.
Boiling point:
The substance Acid fuchsin decomposes when heated and the decomposition temperature was determined to be > 130 °C. Therefore the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid which decomposes befor boiling and the boiling point study considered to be waiver.
Density:
Based on prediction done using ACD/I-Lab 2.0, the density of chemical Acid fuchsin was estimated to be 1.74 ± 0.1 g/cm3
Particle size distribution (Granulometry):
The particle size distribution of Acid fuchsin was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 146 micron to 51 micron
Vapour pressure:
Modified Grain method (Mean of Antoine and Modified Grain methods) was used to estimate the vapour pressure of the test substance Acid fuchsin using MPBPVP v1.43 of EPI SUITE.
