Materials and methods

Principles of method if other than guideline:
A new in vitro method, CORROSITEX, has been developed to determine the corrosivity potential of chemicals and formulations. This in vitro method assigns corrosive material into packing group I, II and III as described in United Nations guidelines or into R34, R35 and noncorrosive groups based on their ability to produce necrosis in three minutes, one hour, four hours or later, respectively, on the skin of rabbit.
