The test substance does not show a potential for explosiveness based on the structural formula and on the Oxygen Balance, therefore no test was conducted.
A report exists (DyStar Colours Distribution GmbH, 1999*) which tested the substance for impact sensitivity and dust explosibility according to "Test Methods for the Determination of the Safety Characteristic of Dust, VDI 2263, 1990." A short abstract of the tests performed is available. It is known that these tests conducted better address the purpose of the ATEX Directive. The substance resulted non-sensitive to impact in the impact sensitivity test. In the dust explosibility test, at 200 g/m3, no ignition was observed while at 500 g/m3 and 1000 g/m3, the test substance resulted dust explosible with an induction spark. The indication concerning the ATEX Directive would be to avoid the presence of such dust clouds at the work place and does not refer to the intrinsic property of the test substance. Thus, this report is cited here for information and not used for classification according to the REACH regulation.

Justification for classification or non-classification
According to the CLP Regulation, EC n. 1272/2008, Annex I, Part 2, subsection 2.1.1.2, which states that: "An explosive substance or mixture is a solid or liquid substance or mixture of substances which is in itself capable by chemical reaction of producing gas at such a temperature and pressure and at such a speed as to cause damage to the surroundings. Pyrotechnic substances are included even when they do not evolve gases."
Based on the structural formula and on the Oxygen Balance, the substance is considered to be Not Explosive
