Additional information

Sodium isobutyrate solution ( Reaction mass of lithium 3-hydroxy-2,2,4-trimethylpentanoate and lithium isobutyrate and sodium 3-hydroxy-2,2,4-trimethylpentanoate and sodium isobutyrate) was shown to be readily biodegradable in a 28 -day OECD 301A DOC die-away test. Hence, it can be expected that the substance will degrade rapidly in the environment.

As the substance was found to be readily biodegradable no further testing on biodegradability or hydrolysis were considered necessary.

As the substance has an extremely low log Kow, testing for adsorption/desorption is not required according to REACH Annex VIII Column 2.In addition to this, the low log Kow of the substance means that testing for bioaccumulation is not necessary according to REACH Annex IX Column 2.
