Raw data of the individual measurements performed for the tin powder submitted to the T/D protocol in a modified OECD 203 media, at pH 8.5 are presented in Tables 3-5 (attached).
Stability test.
After the Transformation / dissolution tests had finished, the OECD media were filtered through 0.2 μm PTFE membranes, and the stability of the dissolved tin was followed for 7 days. Total and dissolved tin concentrations were measured after 24, 48, 72 and 168 hours of incubation at 20 °C, without agitation.

Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Test concentrations of 1, 10 and 100 mg/L achieved transformation/dissolution levels of 7, 20 and 31 µg Sn/L respectively at 168 hours. A single test concentration of 1 mg/L tested for 672 hours achieved 7 µg/L transformation/dissolution.
- Executive summary:
Tin metal powder (type 5) was tested largely in accordance with the general guidance given in the draft OECD Transformation/Dissolution protocol. The experimental design includes the refinements, agreed by the ad hoc OECD Validation Management Group (VMG), as described in the Standard Operating Procedures prepared by CANMET and LISEC. Full transformation / dissolution tests, at pH 8.5, were performed at the 3 recommended sample loadings (1, 10 and 100 mg/L) of the smallest representative, commercially available, tin powder for the 7 day acute test and 1 mg/L loading for the 28 day chronic test.
Test concentrations of 1, 10 and 100 mg/L achieved transformation/dissolution levels of 7, 20 and 31 µg Sn/L respectively at 168 hours. A single test concentration of 1 mg/L tested for 672 hours achieved 7 µg/L transformation/dissolution.
