JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING

According to Reach Annex VII end point 7.11, the study does not need to be conducted if there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule. This is the case for GALDEN LMW.
GALDEN LMW belong to the class of perfluoropolyethers, whose the high chemical stability is well known.

Description of key information

GALDEN LMW is not explosive.
GALDEN LMW belong to the class of perfluoropolyethers, whose the high chemical stability is well known. No chemical groups associated with explosive properties are present in the molecule.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

GALDEN LMW is not explosive.

GALDEN LMW belong to the class of perfluoropolyethers, whose high chemical stability is well known. No chemical groups associated with explosive properties are present in the molecule.

Furthermore, the lack of explosivity associated with heating is supported by high thermal stability of GALDEN LMW.

Scientific literature regarding PFPEs class (Sianesi et al, 1994) as well as experimental results on analogue substance H GALDEN support the high thermal stability of GALDEN LMW.

The thermal stability is discussed under section 4.19.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Regulation EC No. 1272/2008, the GALDEN LMW does not meet the classification criteria for Explosiveness.
