Solubility in organic solvents / fat solubility
Administrative data
- Endpoint:
- solubility in organic solvents / fat solubility
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 2007
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: see 'Remark'
- Remarks:
- The study performed with scientific authoritative method and in compliance with GLP. This study was intended to determine the solubility of test item in water, in n-hexane and in n-octanol at 3 different temperatures (10°C, 20°C and 30°C).The Kow of test item at those three temperatures was calculated from the solubility of test item in water and in n-octanol.

Materials and methods
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- The solubility of test item was determined by suspending an excess of the compound in the buffer and in the solvents n-hexane and n-octanol,and stirring the suspensions in a thermostatted water bath for 3 days. The concentration in the filtered solutions was then determined by HPLC analysis with a UV detector by the method of external calibration. The Kow was then determined by calculation.
- GLP compliance:
- yes

Any other information on results incl. tables
Results:
Solvent | Temperature | Solubility |
n-hexan | 10°C | 8.7 mg/L |
n-hexan | 20°C | 18.6 mg/L |
n-hexan | 30°C | 27.0 mg/L |
n-octanol | 10°C | 36.8 mg/L |
n-octanol | 20°C | 43.7 mg/L |
n-octanol | 30°C | 51.4 mg/L |
A trend can be seen, the solubility of test item increases with temperature
