Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Eye contact
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do.
Continue rinsing. Get medical attention immediately. Call a physician.
Skin contact
In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing
and shoes. Get medical attention immediately. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash clothing separately
before reuse.
Inhalation
Remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If the affected person is not breathing, apply artificial respiration. Do
not use mouth-to-mouth method if victim inhaled the substance. Induce artificial respiration with the aid of a pocket mask
equipped with a one-way valve or other proper respiratory medical device. Call a physician or Poison Control Center
immediately.
Ingestion
IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician. If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the
person is conscious). Never give anything by mouth to a victim who is unconscious or is having convulsions. If swallowed, do
NOT induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs naturally, have victim lean forward to reduce risk of aspiration.
Notes to physician
Keep victim under observation. Symptoms may be delayed. Provide general supportive measures and treat symptomatically.
Fire-fighting measures
Flammable properties
Heat may cause the containers to explode. Vapors may travel considerable distance to a source of
ignition and flash back. Runoff to sewer may cause fire or explosion hazard.
Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media
Water Fog. Foam. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Dry chemical, CO2, water spray or alcohol resistant foam. Powder.
Unsuitable extinguishing media
Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.
Protection of firefighters
Specific hazards arising from the chemical
May form explosive peroxides. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. May include oxides of nitrogen.
Protective equipment and precautions for firefighters
Firefighters must use standard protective equipment including flame retardant coat, helmet with face shield, gloves, rubber
boots, and in enclosed spaces, SCBA. Structural firefighters protective clothing will only provide limited protection. Cool
containers / tanks with water spray.
Water runoff can cause environmental damage. Dike and collect water used to fight fire.
Fire fighting equipment/instructions
In case of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes. Wear full protective clothing, including helmet, self-contained positive
pressure or pressure demand breathing apparatus, and face mask. Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk.
Withdraw immediately in case of rising sound from venting safety device or any discoloration of tanks due to fire. For massive fire
in cargo area, use unmanned hose holder or monitor nozzles, if possible. If not, withdraw and let fire burn out. Stay upwind.
Specific methods
In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes. ALWAYS stay away from tanks engulfed in flame.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions
Keep unnecessary personnel away. Fully encapsulating, vapor protective clothing should be worn for spills and leaks with no fire.
Do not touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Keep people away from and
upwind of spill/leak. Keep out of low areas. Ventilate closed spaces before entering them.
Environmental precautions
Avoid release to the environment. Refer to special instructions/safety data sheets. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do
so. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas.
Methods for containment
Eliminate all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks, or flames in immediate area). Stop the flow of material, if this is without
risk. Use water spray to reduce vapors or divert vapor cloud drift.
Methods for cleaning up
Extinguish all flames in the vicinity. This product is miscible in water.
Large Spills: Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Dike the spilled material, where this is possible. Cover with plastic
sheet to prevent spreading. Use a non-combustible material like vermiculite, sand or earth to soak up the product and place into a
container for later disposal. Following product recovery, flush area with water.
Small Spills: Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination.
Never return spills in original containers for re-use. For waste disposal, see section 13 of the MSDS. Soak up with inert absorbent
material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust).
Other information
Clean up in accordance with all applicable regulations.
Handling and storage
Handling
Use only in area provided with appropriate exhaust ventilation. Do not smoke. Do not cut, weld, solder, drill, grind, or expose
containers to heat, flame, sparks, or other sources of ignition. All equipment used when handling the product must be grounded.
Do not get this material in contact with skin or eyes. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist. Wear personal protective equipment.
Avoid prolonged exposure. Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re-use.
Storage
Use care in handling/storage. Keep tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame.
The pressure in sealed containers can increase under the influence of heat. This material can accumulate static charge which
may cause spark and become an ignition source. Prevent electrostatic charge build-up by using common bonding and grounding
techniques. Keep in an area equipped with sprinklers. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. Keep out of the reach
of children.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Engineering controls
Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering
controls to control airborne levels.
Personal protective equipment
Eye / face protection
Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles) and a face shield. Do not get in eyes. Eye wash fountain is recommended.
Skin protection
Avoid contact with the skin. Wear impervious protective clothing to prevent contact with this product. Remove and wash
contaminated clothing before re-use. The use of neoprene gloves is recommended.
Respiratory protection
When workers are facing concentrations above the exposure limit, they must use appropriate certified respirators.
General hygiene considerations
When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product. Keep away
from food and drink. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.
Stability and reactivity
Chemical stability
Risk of ignition. Stable under recommended storage conditions.
Conditions to avoid
Heat, flames and sparks. Avoid temperatures exceeding the flash point.
Hazardous decomposition products
Irritants. Nitrogen oxides (NOx). May form explosive peroxides. Decomposes on heating.
Possibility of hazardous reactions
Polymerization can occur in presence of cationic initiators such as selected Lewis acids or strong proton acids.
Disposal considerations
Disposal instructions
Consult authorities before disposal. Incinerate the material under controlled conditions in an approved incinerator. Do not incinerate sealed containers. Do not allow this material to drain into sewers/water supplies. Dispose in accordance with all applicable regulations. Contaminated packaging
Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.
