Description of key information
The following key study was provided to assess the flammability of dibutyltin maleate:

The flammability (solids) of the test item was determined using a method designed to be compatible with Method A10 Flammability (Solids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.
The test item was determined to be not highly flammable.
The following data waiver was provided to omit further flammability testing on dibutyltin maleate:
Based on the known chemical and physical properties of the substance and its chemical structure, negative results are predicted for the following flammability tests of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC, so it is considered justified to omit them;
Method A12: Flammability (contact with water)
Method A13: Pyrophoric properties of solids and liquids.
As tests A12 and A13 are predicted to be negative, and the results from the performance of A.10 (Flammability (Solids)) provided negative results the substance is not "highly flammable" according to Council Directive 67/548/EEC. It is therefore considered justified to omit further testing concerning the flammability of dibuytltin maleate.

A reliability rating of 1 was assigned to the key study, Atwal & Tremain (2010), according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the study was conducted in accordance with recognised guidelines and GLP.
The test item was determined to be not highly flammable.
