Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

EC50 for microorganisms:
140 mg/L

Additional information

For Alcohols, C16-18 (even numbered) and C18 unsaturated, propoxylated, < 2.5 PO (CAS 70955-07-6) one respiration inhibition study with Pseudomonas putida according to German national standard guideline (draft DIN 38412, part 27) is available. After 30 minutes of exposure no impact on the respiration of the microorganisms was measured up to the highest test concentration of 10000 mg/L. Two studies with similar substances (alcohol ethoxylates C12, 4 EO, CAS 9002-92-0 and C12-14, 6 EO, CAS 68439-50-9) confirm this result. In a study according to DIN 38412, part 8 and GLP an EC50 > 10 g/L is reported, after 16.9 hours exposure of Pseudomonas putida to alcohol ethoxylates (C12, 4 EO, CAS 9002-92-0) (Diefenbach, 1996). Furthermore a respiration test with domestic activated sludge according to EG-guideline 88/302/EG and GLP is available for alcohol ethoxylates (C12-14, 6 EO, CAS 68439-50-9) (Diefenbach, 1997). In this study an EC50 (3h) of 140 mg/L was determined.
