The substance has an average onset point of -4.70 °C (SD of 0.482 °C, %RSD of -10.3%). The DSC curve has a sloping baseline of the thermograms likely due to the intermolecular forces of the mixture. The onset point was chosen based on when the slope changed from negative to undefined, identified when the cross-hair of the integrator cursor aligned with the curve. The conclusion point of melting was taken as the point where the heat flow curve returned to baseline. Given the shape of the baseline and endotherm, and the nature of the test substance as a mixture, the melting point range was determined to be from -4.13 to 9.82 °C.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The melting range of ERGP-IEM was determined to be -4.13 to 9.82 °C (OECD 102).
- Executive summary:
The melting point of ERGP-IEM was determined using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). During the heating phase a distinct endothermic effect was observed. The standard deviation from onset temperature in the six tests was 0.482 °C from their mean value of -4.70 °C. However, given sloping baseline and composition of test material the melting range was reported as -4.13 to 9.82 °C based on extremes of the measured onset and return to baseline temperatures. The study was conducted in accordance with OECD 102 guidelines and was GLP compliant. Therefore, the study is considered reliable without restrictions.
