Test guideline
- Qualifier:
- no guideline followed
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Method as described in "The Place of the Range Finding Test in the Industrial Toxicology Laboratory" - H.F. Smyth Jr. and C.P. Carpenter; J. Indust. Hyg. & Toxicol. 26: 269, 1944: Groups of six male albino rats are exposed to a flowing stream of air substantially saturated with vapors of the test material, prepared by passing it through a fritted disc bubbler at room temperature for periods of time falling in a geometric series with a constant ratio of two, up to eight hours as a maximum. This practice is repeated on new groups of rats until we find an exposure time which kills all of six, and another time which kills none of six, within two weeks after inhalation.
