Description of key information

Toxic effects to soil organisms are not expected.

Additional information

The substance is characterized by a log Kow < 5 (log Kow = 1.92), is readily biodegradable and is not very toxic to aquatic organisms (EC/LC50 > 1 mg/L). Hence, according to chapter R. 7c of the ‘Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment' (ECHA, 2017) the substance belongs to the Soil Hazard Category 1. Furthermore, the data available are sufficient to derive a PNEC for aquatic organisms. Thus, a PEC/PNEC screen based on EPM could be determined. The environmental exposure assessment according to Annex XI, Section 3 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 indicates no risk for the terrestrial compartment (all RCR < 1; please refer to Chapter 9 and 10 of the Chemical Safety Report for detailed information). Thus, toxicity studies with terrestrial organisms are not needed.
