Description of key information

Based on Lead registrant dossier (Annex VII), the registered substance is not readily biodegradable but  a primary biodegradation is demonstrated as the substance is totally converted to a transformation product (salicylic acid, CAS n°69-72-7). This transformation product is readily biodegradable according to OECD TG 301C with 88.1% of biodegradation (CERI, 1975), therefore the registered substance can not be considered as potential Persistent (P) or very Persistent (vP) in the environment.


In the current partial opt-out dossier (Annex VIII), no hydrolysis is expected based on chemical structure of the substance. With a a log Koc values at 1.57 (Koc = 37 L/kg), the registered substance is considered highly mobile in soils according to Mc Call (1981). With a log Kow value at 1.66, the substance is not considered to be bioaccumulative according to CLP (< 4.0) and PBT criteria (< 4.5).
