Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
The effect of the test material on the growth of the green alga Scenedesmus subspicatus was studied according to OECD Guideline 201, under GLP. The maximum concentration employed in the study was 0.20 mg/L. Scenedesmus subspicatus was exposed to the test material at a concentration of 0.20 mg/L for 72 hours, under constant illumination and shaking at a temperature of 24 ± 1°C. Additional sodium bicarbonate (500 mg/L) was added to the culture medium to provide a source of carbon dioxide for algal growth. At 0 hours, the measured concentrations of the test substance ranged from 73% to 81 % of nominal for the untreated samples and from 53% to 55% of nominal for the centrifuged samples. At 72 hours, the measured concentrations had declined to 55% to 58% of nominal for the untreated samples and to 40% of nominal for the centrifuged samples. Analysis of the test vessels showed that the decline in measured test concentrations over the test period was due to instability rather than losses due to volatility. The results were based on the geometric measured test concentrations of the centrifuged test media in order to give a "worst case" analysis of the data. The ErC50 and NOErC values were > 0.093 mg/L and ≥ 0.093 mg/L, respectively, based on the geometric mean measured test concentrations of the centrifuged test media.
