Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Leave the contaminated area.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eyes repeatedly with water.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and wash skin with soap and
water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse lips and mouth repeatedly with water.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Powder estinguisher
Water
Product arising from burning: At temp. (1000-1100 °C) applied for the test specified in
3.10 Lactoftaluro is molten without flames. The substance
has a high flash point (see 3.9), it is neither flammable
(see 3.10), nor autoflammable. It has no oxydizing prop. In
case of fire it may decompose giving off CO2, H2O and
iodine: to a lesser extent nitrogen dioxide and HCl.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Depending on the quantity involved in the fire, use gas
masks with filters or self-contained breathing apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect the spilt material with appropriate devices in
containers the same as those for normal use.
Rinse with water.
If possible collect the rinsing water and drain to water
treatment plant.
Handling and storage
Handling: Handling is confined to professional users in
unloading/loading phases of reactors.
As a precautionary measure, goggles, gloves and masks are
required.
Storage: The product should be kept in closed container in a cool,
ventilated storage area.

Special provisions / remarks
- Remarks:
- Transport: a) No particular requirements with the exception of
appropriate closed containers lined with plastics or plastic
bags to avoid crushing and spillage during movement.
b) No legal requirements according to ADR rules since the
substance cannot be regarded as dangerous for
transportation.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: No particular danger.
Chemical reaction with water: Dissolution is extremely slow. Lactoftaluro is virtually
insoluble in water and the solute hydrolyzes immediately and
completely to the product identified as major impurity 1.
The product does not give rise to uncontrolled chemical
reactions.
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Lactoftaluro is an intermediate of synthesis which is
completely transformed by reaction into another substance.
There is therefore neither possibility nor necessity to
recover the substance.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Lactoftaluro has no potential hazardous effects.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not used.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not used.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Lactoftaluro can be destroyed in a water treatment plant
after solubilization with hot water and NaOH.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.
