- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Remarks:
- Study conducted in compliance with agreed protocols, with no or minor deviations from standard test guidelines and/or minor methodological deficiencies, which do not affect the quality of the relevant results. The study report was conclusive, done to a valid guideline and the study was conducted under GLP conditions.

- or specified in description of method (migrated information)
- Burning time:
- 4 s
- Moisture (wt %):
- 7.814
- Remarks on result:
- substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
- Interpretation of results:
- non flammable
- Remarks:
- Migrated information
- Conclusions:
- The test item has been determined to be not highly flammable as it did not propagate combustion over the 200 mm of the preliminary screening test.
- Executive summary:
The flammability (solids) was determined by measuring the burning rate of test item prepared as a pile of set dimensions. Testing was conducted using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A10 Flammability (Solids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.
Preliminary screening test
The pile ignited with a small yellow flame which self-extinguished after 4 seconds without propagating combustion. The result of the preliminary screening test obviated the need to perform the main test.
Conclusion
The test item has been determined to be not highly flammable as it did not propagate combustion over the 200 mm of the preliminary screening test.
- Endpoint:
- pyrophoric solids
- Data waiving:
- study scientifically not necessary / other information available
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
- Endpoint:
- substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
- Data waiving:
- study scientifically not necessary / other information available
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water

Description of key information
The substance was determined not to be flammable when tested in accrodance with EU Method A10 Flammability (Solids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- non flammable
Additional information
In accordance with section 1.2 of REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI the study of flammability may be completed based on weight of available evidence.
For solids the primary assessment for flammability is conducted using Method A10 ‘flammability (solids)’ of Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008. The result of this test is used to allocate a solid substance into the appropriate flammability class.
Other measures of flammability include pyrophoricit, flammability on contact with water and self-heating. These can be considered not a concern for the substance and testing waived if consideration of experience in handling and use, or physical properties, show that no effects are envisaged. Such a screening procedure represents an intelligent testing strategy for flammability. If applied correctly then only solid substances for which it is suspected will give a positive result in either the pyrophoric properties or flammability on contact with water tests need to be tested.
A review of handling and used implies no pyrophoric properties or flammability on contact with water. Based on experience in handling and use negative results are predicted for pyrophoric properties and flammability of contact with water. Moreover, the substance having a low melting point (completely molten up to 160°C), it should not be considered for classification in this class since the melting process is endothermic and the substance/air surface is drastically reduced. Based on the flammability (solids) test, the substance is concluded to be non flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification
