- Boiling range evaluated by DSC: 92.61 °C to 113.18 °C (365.76 K to 386.33 K)
- Executive summary:
The determination of the melting and boiling point of dermofeel® PA-12 was performed via DSC (differential scanning calorimetry). In all runs two events were detected. The events
are endothermic and the second event is stated as the boiling range under these circumstances as:
92.61 °C to 113.18 °C (365.76 K to 386.33 K)
No observations were made which might cause doubts on the validity of the study outcome.
Therefore, the result of the study is considered valid.

Observations |
Temperature |
The test item stated to melt to a white mass like gel |
74 °C |
The test item melted completely, the amount of the test item after melting was about 1 / 5 of the amount at the beginning |
90 °C |
The test item foamed / boiled The liquid getting more transparent and moved upwards. The boiling is getting more violent. |
110 °C |
Turned off gas burner |
Up to 120 °C |
No more bubbles were visible |
112 °C |
Test item stayed as slightly yellowish transparent sticky mass |
After cooling down |
Interpretation
In all DSC measurements two endo thermic events were detected. According to the pre-tests the first event can be identified as melting point.
The second event can be identified as boiling point. As the deviation of melting and boiling point from three independent determinations are higher than 0.5 K, a range of melting and boiling point are stated.
Presentation of results
All results of boiling point are presented in the following table.

Validity
As the deviations between determinations are > 0.5 K, a range of boiling point is stated.
Description of key information
Boiling range is 92.61 °C to 113.18 °C (365.76 K to 386.33 K) (Method OECD 103; respectively to EC Guideline EU A.2; differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)).
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
The melting and boiling point was determined via DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) according to the OECD Guideline 103 and EU Method A.2.
In all runs two events were detected. The events are endothermic and the second event is stated as the boiling range under these circumstances as:
92.61 °C to 113.18 °C (365.76 K to 386.33 K)
No observations were made which might cause doubts on the validity of the study outcome. Therefore, the result of the study is considered valid.
