Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. If required consult a doctor.
If inhaled:
Call the doctor immediately. Go outdoors. In case of breathing irregular or respiratory stop, administer artificial respiration.
In case of skin contact:
Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Eliminate washing with soap and lots of water. Consult a doctor.
In case of contact with eyes:
Remove contact lenses(if there is any) and rinse immediately with an abundance of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Call your doctor immediately.
If swallowed:
Wash your mouth with water and then drink plenty of water. DO NOT cause vomiting, call your doctor immediately.
Notes for the doctor treat symptomatically.
Hazards: Inhaled corrosive substances can lead to toxic edema of the lungs.
Symptoms: Irritation and corrosion
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:
Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry powder Foam, water spray.
Extinguishing media that should not be uses for security reasons:
High volume water jet.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Special risk to the danger produced for the substance or its preparation, combustion of their products, or exhaust gases: In case of fire, dangerous decomposition products may be formed, as: Hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas. PHOSGENE.
Recommendations for firefighting personnel:
Special team for the fighting:
Personal protection composed of a chemical protection suit hermetic and a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Other specifications:
The remains of the fire as well as the contaminated extinguishing water, must be eliminated according to the local regulations in force. Keep them contained and cold surroundings with water spray.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Personal precautions:
Keep people away from the vanishing area and in the direction opposite to the wind. Use personal protective equipment. Avoid the contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
Environmental precautions:
Prevent spreading over large areas (eg by containment or oil barriers). Do not flush into surface water or sewer system sanitary. Avoid penetration in the subsoil.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning:
Trace and transfer correctly in labeled containers. Pick up wastes with an inert absorbent product (eg, sand, diatomite, acid fixative, universal fixer, sawdust).
Handling and storage
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.
Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Processor/User of the Registrant’s intermediate.
Precautions for safe handling:
Use only explosion-proof electrical equipment. Fill and handle the product only in a closed system. Adopt precautions against the electrostatic discharges.
Indications for protection against fire and explosion:
Protect yourself from sources of ignition. No Smoking. Avoid the accumulation of electrostatic charges.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Close the containers tightly and keep them in a dry place, fresh and well ventilated.
