Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Handbook data on the density of hydrogen peroxide are available. The density of pure hydrogen peroxide is extrapolated from densities at 25 °C of aqueous solutions exhibiting a range of hydrogen peroxide concentrations from 0 to 95% w/w. The density of pure hydrogen peroxide is 1.4425 g/cm3 at 25 °C.

Additional information

The relative density of hydrogen peroxide was determined at -20 °C using x-ray diffraction by Abrahams et al. (1951) and was found to be 1.7 g/cm3. Schumb et al. (1955) recalculated that number using Bragg's equation (using the Avogadro number as 6.023e23) and applying the uncertainties given in the original experiment and came up with a corrected number for the relative density of pure hydrogen peroxide of 1.71 g/cm3. The density of 100% w/w hydrogen peroxide at 25 °C was estimated as 1.4425 g/cm3 by extrapolation from densities of aqueous solutions exhibiting hydrogen peroxide concentrations ranging from 0 to 95% w/w at 25 °C (Schumb et al. 1955).
