Description of key information

The water solubility of Triple superphosphate is based on its two main constituents (data from handbooks): Calcium phosphate monobasic (MCP) is soluble as the monohydrate. Calcium sulfate is soluble in case of granular or powdered anhydrous form or as dihydrate. Therefore triple superphosphate has a water solubility of 1 -100 g/L.

Based on the handbook data available, the two main constituents of triple superphosphate:

Calcium sulfate anhydrous is insoluble to slightly soluble in water (crystal structure as the mineral) or is soluble (granular or powder). Calcium sulfate dihydrate is soluble in water (2 g/l at 20°C).

Calcium phosphate monobasic (MCP) anhydrous is slightly soluble in water. The monohydrate is soluble in water. The SIDS mentions 18 g/L, and CRC reports an even higher value. Superphosphate from the H2SO4 treatment contains the monohydrate (Merck 12th).

Two minor constituents of triple superphosphate:

Calcium phosphate dibasic (anhydrous and dihydrate): insoluble in water (< 0.1 mg/L).

Phosphate rock is not expected to dissolve in water
