Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
surface tension
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Study not performed according to a guideline, but materials & methods and results are well described.
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The surface tension was measured with a thermostated tensiometer (Digital Tensiometer K 10ST, Kru¨ss Gmbh, Germany) using a Wilhelmy plate method.14 The temperature was set to 25 °C and controlled with a circulation liquid path (Lauda RC6 CS). The oxalic acid was dissolved in water. Water was purified to ultrapure quality (Milli-Q, 18 M).
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
plate method
Key result
Surface tension:
ca. 70.1 mN/m
Temp.:
25 °C
Conc.:
0.015 other: molar fraction

no data

Conclusions:
Surface tension of the substance is not lower than 60 mN/m, then oxalic acid should not be regarded as being surface-active
materials.
