Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of HDI oligomers, allophanate to Danio rerio under static conditions. The results are expressed in terms of Lethal Loadings (LL) at 2, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours of exposure. As the test item is a multi constituent and no information about the correlation between molecular weight and the structural formula of the test item are available, a Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) was used to test effects at a limit Lethal Loading of 100 mg/L, and no specific analysis was performed.
Daphnia Magna was exposed under static conditions for 48 h to one concentration (100 mg/L) of the test substance (48h EC50= >100 mg/L). No toxic effect was observed.
The toxicity of Hexamethylene diisocyanate, oligomerisation product (allophanate type) to aquatic algae (Scenedesmus subspicatus) was tested in a static limit test according to EU method C. 3 "Algal Inhibition Test". After 72 hours of exposure, an NOEC = > 100 mg/L and EL50 = > 100 mg/l was concluded.
Due to the heterogeneous composition of the test substance, the effective loading (EL) was determined upon water accommodated fraction (WAF) without chemical analysis.
Hexamethylene diisocyanate, oligomerisation product (allophanate type) showed 3.0 % respiration inhibition of activated sludge at the highest test item concentration of 1000 mg/L. An EC10 and an EC50 of >1000 mg/l were obtained in this test. The effect value relates to nominal concentration, since no analytical monitoring was performed.
