As the registration substance has ester functions abiotic and biotic ester cleavage is possible at different rates. The abiotic cleavage of esters under environmental conditions (pH 4 -9) is normally slow when compared to the enzymatic cleavage e.g. by microorgnisms in an OECD 301B CO2 Evolution test (see IUCLID Chapter 5.2.1) where rapid degradation occurs.
