Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No studies were available on DEA acetate, but 3-hr activated sludge tests on RA2 and RA1 both found no significant effect on respiration rate at 1000 mg/L (the NOEC). In each case, therefore, the 3-hr EC50 was greater than 1000 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

No studies were available on DEA acetate, but the toxicity of two structurally-related substances to microorganisms has been assessed in two reliable guideline studies.

RA1 was incubated at up to 1000 mg/L (1250 mg/L containing 20% water) with activated sludge. No significant inhibitory effect was seen on respiration rate after a 3-hr incubation period. The 3-hr EC20 and EC50 were higher than 1000 mg/L. The NOEC (defined as the EC15) was 1000 mg/L (Peither, 2000b).

A 3-hr respiration inhibition test was conducted in which RA2 was incubated with aerobic activated sludge at nominal concentrations of up to 1000 mg/L. No inhibitory effect on respiration rate was observed. The 3-hr EC20 and EC50 values were thought to be greater than 1000 mg/L on this basis and the NOEC was 1000 mg/L (Grutzner, 1997d).
