Additional information

One ready biodegradation study is available for Sorbitan isooctadecanoate (CAS No. 71902-01-7).

This key study was carried out with Sorbitan isooctadecanoate (CAS No. 71902-01-7), following the OECD Guideline 301 B and according to GLP (Clarke, 2012). A mixed population of activated sewage sludge microorganisms from the aeration stage of a sewage treatment plant, treating predominantly domestic sewage, was used as inoculum. During the 28-day test period, biodegradation reached 91%, based on CO2 evolution.

In conclusion, Sorbitan isooctadecanoate (CAS No. 71902-01-7) can be considered readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
