Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Solvent Brown 41 is an insoluble substance ( water solubility < 22 mg/l from testing at 20°C and ca. 0.018 mg/l from estimation by EPISUITE v 4.11, finally set < 0.1 mg/l) that, consequently, cannot undergo hydrolysis or biodegradation and in fact it is not possible to test it for degradation (abiotic, i.e. hydrolysis and/or biotic, i.e. biodegradation) in the aquatic compartment.

Furthermore, the analogue substance 1 was tested for inherent biodegradation following OECD 302B (BASF, 1989). Under the test conditions analogue substance 1 showed again very low water solubility , and also in this instance no degradation was observed.

The potential to bioaccumulate was calculated by EPISUITE v 4.1 and showed a Log BCF = 1, showing that bioconcentration is extermely unlikely to be significant.

Finally the adsorption/desorption properties were estimated by calculation again of Koc, based on Kow method. Log Koc resulted equal to 2.85 showing potential to adsorb. However, by analysing the life cycle of the substance no direct or indirect exposure to the soil is expected, since the substance undergoes a tailored biodegradation and adsorption on adapted sludge in dedicated STP.
