Description of key information

In a respiratory irritation experiment with mice using plethysmographic determination of the respiratory rate, a RD50 (respiratory rate inhibition by 50%) of 3890 mg/m³ was determined for isobutyl acetate (Muller 1984). In the same study RD50 values of 3467 mg/m³ for n-butyl acetate and 5623 mg/m³ for isobutanol were determined. Thus indicating that n-butyl acetate is slightly more irritant than isobutyl acetate and isobutanol being the least irritant of the three substances.
