Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. If breathing is impiared,
assisted respiration may be indicated. Supplemental oxygen
may be indicated. Seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediatley flush eyes with large quantities of water for a
minimum of 15 minutes. Use fingers to assure that the
eyelids are seperated and that the eye is being irrigated.
It is also recommended a medical check is performed.
Emergency measure - Skin: Immediatley wash skin with soap and water for at least 15
minutes. If skin irritation occurs seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water and give water to drink. Do not
induce vomiting. Seek medical advice.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Carbon dioxide, water spray or fog, dry chemical or alcohol
foam.
Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a
fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg oxides of carbon and
nitrogen) However, there is no experimental evidence to
support the anticipated combustion products.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to
the relevant national or international standards as
mentioned in section 2.3.10.
Spilled material should be contained and pumped into steel
containers for recovery or disposal. Vermiculite absorbent
should be spread over the spill area to absorb as much as
the remaining product as possible. Scoop up soild absorbent
for waste disposal. The area should then be washed down to
dilute and remove traces of material. Remove all sources of
ignition.
Dispose of waste material by incineration.
Handling and storage
Handling: Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Use adequate
ventilation and protective clothing, including chemical
goggles and neoprene or butyl rubber gloves. Wash
thoroughly after handling.
Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate
international or national standards as follows;
Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374
Chemical resistant clothing to Standard EN368
Eye protection to Standard EN166
When necessary appropriate respiratory protection should be
used. e.g. a vapour mask conforming to EN405 FFA1.
The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a
minimum.
Storage: Keep containers tightly closed. Minimise exposure to
atmosphere. Store in a cool, dry area.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 5 gallon steel pails, 55 gallon steel pails and 1000L
Intermediate Bulk Containers (composite with plastic inner
and steel outer).

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: None known.
Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.
Dust explosion: Not applicable due to being a liquid.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Methods of recycling of the final foam product involve
incineration for energy value or griding and recombining
with virgin polyol for other foam applications.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Product when shipped as an active form could be diluted with
water and absorbed by any type of absorbant material.
Dilution of the product is the best method to render the
product harmless.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: No.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration under controlled conditions, in an adequate
facility, and accordance with local regulation.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: No.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to
the sewage system or the aqueous environment.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: None.
