First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: If symptomatic, move to fresh air. Treat symptomatically.
Get medical attention if symptoms occur.
symptomatique. Consulter un médecin en cas de symptômes.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Any material that contacts the eye should be washed out
immediately with water. Get medical attention if symptoms
occur.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash off with soap and water. Get medical attention if
symptoms occur.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical advice.
Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide (CO2), dry chemical.
eau pulvérisée, dioxyde de carbone (CO2), poudre
d'extinction.
Product arising from burning: Hazardous Combustion Products: Carbon oxides and oxides
of nitrogen
Produits de combustion dangereux:
Oxydes de carbone, oxydes d'azote (NOx)
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Hydrogen chloride
Produits de décomposition dangereux:
Info on hazardous composition products (for comma delimited
phrases)
acide chlorhydrique.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective
clothing. Fire or excessive heat may produce hazardous
decomposition products.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Shovel into suitable container for disposal. Avoid
dust formation. Clean contaminated surface
thoroughly.
Collecter dans des récipients appropriés pour élimination.
Eviter toute formation de poussières. Nettoyer soigneusement
la surface contaminée.
Handling and storage
Handling: Avoid prolonged or repeated breathing of dust. Avoid contact
with eyes and prolonged or repeated contact
with skin. Ensure adequate ventilation. Wash
thoroughly after handling.
Storage: Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from
incompatible substances (strong oxidizing
agents).
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance will be imported into the Chalon company plant
sites in sealed, poly-lined fiber containers. The
containers shall contain the warning:
Classification: Dangerous for the environment
R53 - May cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic
environment.
S61 - Avoid release to the environment. Refer to special
instructions/safety data sheet.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: Fire or high temperatures may cause decomposition.
Dust may form explosive mixture in air.
Chemical reaction with water: Experience in use and structure activity relationships
indicate that the test substance is not hazardous in contact
with water or humid air.
Dust explosion: There are no data or experience indicating this substance
presents a dust explosion hazard; however no testing has
been conducted to characterize its dust explosibility
properties. Fines of this substance, like those of many
organic dusts, may be capable of forming explosible dust
clouds in air. Minimize dust generation and accumulation.
Keep away from sources of ignition. Use adequate
ventilation.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not practical to neutralize the substance
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: A temperature of 1000 degrees C is expected
to be sufficient to destroy the substance.
Hazardous combustion products include carbon oxides
and nitrogen oxides. Hazardous decomposition
products include hydrogen chloride.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The biodegradability and log Kow value of the substance were
measured in the testing laboratory. These studies
determined that the substance cannot be classified as
readily biodegradable and that the log Kow value is >7.8.
Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) programs
were used to estimate a Henry's Law Constant (HENRYWIN
v3.1) value of 3.59E-20 Pa-m3/mole. Based on the results
from the biodegradation test, the measured log Kow value,
and the estimated log H value, the SIMPLETREAT 3.0 model
(Struijs, 1996) predicts at least 85% removal of the
substance during wastewater treatment. Therefore, the
estimated amounts of substance discharged from the Station
de l'AUZIN treatment facility annually were estimated to be
1.09 kg (10436 mg/operation day) based upon intended
imported volumes and 2.17 kg (20872 mg/operation day) using
the maximum tonnage for a Level VIIB notification.
The local predicted environmental concentrations (PEC local
water) for the intended imported amount and maximum tonnage
for a Level VIIB notification were calculated to be
2.98E-6 mg/L and 5.96E-6 mg/L, respectively, based upon the
combined daily average flows of the Station de l'AUZIN waste
treatment plant (5E6 L/day) and the low flow of the Saone
River (3.5E9 L/day).
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance.
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not practical to neutralize the substance.
