First-aid measures

General advice: Move out of dangerous area.

Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Do not leave the victim unattended.

If inhaled: If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice.

If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of skin contact: Wash skin immediately with plenty of water and soap. Subsequent cleansing with polyethyleneglycol 400, then again with water and soap.

In case of blueness of lips, skin or nails (cyanosis) let the person breathe oxygen.

No consumption of alcohol after product contact.

Get medical attention immediately.

Elementary aid, decontamination, symptomatic treatment and depending on the formation of methaemoglobin: intravenous administration of toluidine blue or other redox dyes according to dosage specifications plus ascorbic acid.

In case of eye contact: Flush eyes with water as a precaution.

Remove contact lenses.

Protect unharmed eye.

Keep eye wide open while rinsing.

If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.#

If swallowed: Immediately give plenty of water (if possible charcoal slurry).

Do not induce vomiting without medical advice.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Get medical attention immediately.

Risks: Harmful if swallowed.

May cause an allergic skin reaction.

Suspected of causing genetic defects.

Treatment: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Specific hazards during fire fighting: Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Hazardous combustion products: Carbon oxides

Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Halogenated compounds

No hazardous combustion products are known

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

Further information: Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.

Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Use personal protective equipment.

Avoid dust formation.

Avoid breathing dust.

Environmental precautions: Prevent product from entering drains.

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods for cleaning up: Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

Manufacture and use of this chemical intermediate takes place under strictly controlled conditions, as described in Art. 17/18 REACH. The substance is rigorously contained during manufacturing and use and appropriate risk management measures including PPE (i.g. during charging or sampling) are applied. Occupational exposure is reduced to a minimum and well controlled by measurements. A management system covering all general aspects of a chemical production is in place, especially cleaning and maintenance of plants and equipment. An authorisation scheme based on instructions covering the whole process ensures that only trained and authorised staff handles the substance.

Advice on safe handling: Avoid formation of respirable particles.

Do not breathe vapours/dust.

Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

Persons susceptible to skin sensitisation problems or asthma, allergies, chronic or recurrent respiratory disease should not be employed in any process in which this mixture is being

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Avoid dust formation. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed.

Hygiene measures: When using do not eat or drink. When using do not smoke. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Take action to prevent static discharges.

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully re-sealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. Electrical installations / working materials must comply with the technological safety standards.

Recommended storage temperature: > 0 - 50 °C

Further information on storage stability: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Eye protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles

Hand protection

Material: Nitrile rubber - NBR

Wearing time: < 60 min

Material: Polyvinyl chloride - PVC

Wearing time: < 60 min

Remarks: After contamination with product change the gloves immediately and dispose of them according to relevant national and local regulations

The suitability for a specific workplace should be discussed with the producers of the protective gloves.

Skin and body protection: dust protective suit

Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place.

Respiratory protection: In case of dust formation particle filter.

In the case of dust or aerosol formation use respirator with an approved filter.

Dust safety masks are recommended when the dust concentration is more than 10 mg/m3.

Reactivity: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.

Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.

Hazardous reactions:

Under normal conditions of storage and use, hazardous reactions will not occur.

Stable under recommended storage conditions.

No hazards to be specially mentioned.

Conditions to avoid: Avoid the creation of dust when handling and avoid all possible sources of ignition (spark or flame).

Capable of causing a dust explosion

Contact with strong oxidising agents may cause hazardous reactions.

Materials to avoid: No specific data.

Hazardous decomposition products: No hazardous decomposition products are known.

Disposal considerations

Product: The product should not be allowed to enter drains, water courses or the soil.
