Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information: Immediately remove any clothing contaminated by the product. Symptoms of poisoning may occur after several hours. Medical observation for at least 48 hours after the accident is recommended.
After inhalation: Supply fresh air. If required, provide artificial respiration. Keep patient warm. Consult doctor. In case of unconsciousness bring patient into stable side position for transport.
After skin contact: Instantly rinse with water. Immediate medical treatment necessary. Failure to treat burns can prevent wounds from healing.
After eye contact: Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. Then consult doctor.
After swallowing: Drink copious amounts of water and provide fresh air. Instantly call for doctor. Do not induce vomiting; instantly call for medical help.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing agents: CO₂, sand, extinguishing powder. Do not use water.
For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents: Water.
Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or flue gases: Corrosive gases/vapours. Poisonous gases/vapours. Hydrogen chloride (HCl). Carbon monoxide (CO) and Carbon dioxide (CO₂).
Protective equipment: Put on breathing apparatus.
Additional information Collect contaminated fire fighting water separately. It must not enter drains.
Accidental release measures
Person-related safety precautions: Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use breathing protection against the effects of fumes/dust/aerosol.
Measures for environmental protection: Do not allow to enter drainage system, surface or ground water.
Measures for cleaning/collecting: Collect mechanically. Dispose of contaminated material as waste according to disposal considerations. Keep away from water. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Handling and storage
Risk Management Measures: This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH Regulation Article 18(4) for transported intermediates and ECHA Guidance on Intermediates, version 2-December 2010 (Reference: ECHA-2010-G-17-EN). The substance is used only in one site in the EU, with the Importer and the User being the same legal entity. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at the use site.
Information for safe handling:
Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace. Open and handle container with care. Do not breathe dust. Avoid skin and eye contact under any circumstances. Keep away humidity and water.
Information about protection against explosions and fires: No special measures required.
Requirements to be met by storerooms and containers: Observe all local and national regulations for storage of water polluting products.
Information about storage in one common storage facility: Do not store together with alkalis (caustic solutions).
Further information about storage conditions: Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed containers. Store container in a well ventilated position. Protect from humidity and keep away from water. Keep container tightly sealed.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Risk Management Measures: This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH Regulation Article 18(4) for transported intermediates and ECHA Guidance on Intermediates, version 2-December 2010 (Reference: ECHA-2010-G-17-EN). The substance is used only in one site in the EU, with the Importer and the User being the same legal entity. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at the use site.
Components with critical values that require monitoring at the workplace: Observe all workplace limits for dust.
Additional information: The lists that were valid during the compilation were used as basis.
Personal protective equipment
General protective and hygienic measures: Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and food. Instantly remove any contaminated garments. Do not inhale dust / smoke / mist. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin. Wash hands during breaks and at the end of the work.
Breathing equipment: Dust proof mask - particle filter mask
Protection of hands: Protective gloves. The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation.
Material of gloves: The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Penetration time of glove material: The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.
Eye protection: Tightly sealed safety glasses
Body protection: Protective work clothing
Stability and reactivity
Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided: No decomposition if used according to specifications.
Materials to be avoided: Strong oxidizing agents. Strong acids. Reducing agents. Alkaline materials. Amines. Water. Alcohols. Base metals.
Dangerous reactions: Reacts with alcohols, amines, aqueous acids and alkalis. Possible development of hydrochloric acid in humid air.
Dangerous products of decomposition: Hydrogen chloride (HCl). Carbon monoxide (CO) and Carbon dioxide (CO₂).
Disposal considerations
Recommendation: Must not be disposed of together with household garbage. Do not allow product to reach sewage system.
European waste catalogue: Waste disposal key numbers from EWC have to be assigned depending on origin and processing.
Uncleaned packagings: Disposal must be made according to official regulations.
