Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the assessment of calcium neodecanoate, read-across to the assessment entities soluble calcium substances and neodecanoic acid is applied since the ions of calcium neodecanoate determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. Calcium as an essential element has a very low potential for toxicity to aquatic microorganisms.Calcium is added to the synthetic sewage feed according to the activated sludge respiration inhibition test (OECD 209, 2010). Thus, the EC50 for respiration inhibition of activated sewage sludge can at least be expected to be > 100 mg Ca/L. In addition, an inhibition of nitrification was not observed at the highest test concentration of neodecanoic acid resulting in a NOEC ≥ 200 mg/L. Thus, calcium neodecanoate has a low potential for toxicity to microorganisms.
