Time 1: Time from transfer of test solution into test vessel until end of each measurement

Time 2: Time from start of measurement until end of each measurement

The temperature of the test solution was maintained at 20 ± 0.5 °C.

The surface tension of the reference item n-heptane was determined on 2015-03-12 as 20.05 ± 0.01 mN/m (20 °C) for the platinum iridium ring Rl 21, internal no. 1, and is within the acceptable range of 20.23 ± 0.22 mN/m.

Conclusions:
The surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution at 20°C was determined to be 40.44 mN/m.
Executive summary:

Surface tension was determined by OECD harmonised ring method according to OECD TG 115 and EU Method A.5. The surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution of the test item at 20°C was determined to be 40.44 mN/m. The study was conducted according to guideline but was not GLP-compliant. This study is assigned a reliability score of 1.

Description of key information

The surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution of the test item was determined to be 40.44 mN/m at 20°C. As the surface tension is < 60 mN/m, the test item is classified as a surface-active substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
40.44

Additional information

Surface tension was determined by OECD harmonised ring method according to OECD TG 115 and EU Method A.5 (2015). The study was conducted according to guideline but was not GLP-compliant. This study is assigned a reliability of 1.
