Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusions:
This parameter/method is not relevant for classification, however the information is useful regarding potential additional fire hazard.
No particular hazard is anticipated in normal conditions of storage.
Executive summary:

An auto-ignition temperature of 360 ± 5°C at 96.7 kPa was determined for the substance using a relevant test method. The result is considered to be reliable.

Description of key information

Auto-flammability: ca 360 ± 5°C at 96.7 kPa (DIN 51794) (from analogue)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
360 °C

Additional information

There is no measured auto-flammability study for the submission substance. However, auto-ignition data available for related substance have been read across. The target substance, is a Reaction mass of 3-(1,1-dimethyl-4-indanyl)propanal, 3-(1,1-dimethyl-5-indanyl)propanal and 3-(3,3-dimethyl-5-indanyl)propanal. Similarly, the read-across substance is mainly a combination of 3-(1,1-dimethyl-5-indanyl)propanal and 3-(3,3-dimethyl-5-indanyl)propanal. Both substances are multi-constituent substances containing isomers of alkyl indane naphthenic aromatic ring. It is therefore considered applicable to read-across available auto-ignition data to the target substance.

A measured auto-ignition temperature of 360 ± 5°C at 96.7 kPa was determined for the test substance in accordance with DIN 51794, but not in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable.
