Based on a hydrolysis study conducted according OECD Guideline 111, NPEO is considered to be hydrolytically stable.

Additional information

Hydrolysis as a function of pH was determined for NPEO according to OECD Guideline 111. The study was conducted with test substance concentrations of 1.5 mg/L in buffer solutions at pH 4, 7 and 9 and a temperature of 50°C (preliminary test). Samples were taken at test start (0 h) and end (120 h) and analysed via HPLC on a reversed phase column with FLD using an external standard. Buffer solutions were analysed at test start and end and indicated no interference with the test substance. Degradation was calculated as the percentage loss of the test substance over the time. In the preliminary test, the substance was found to be stable at pH 4, 7 and 9, respectively. No further evaluation was deemed necessary as less than 10% of the applied substance was transformed after 120 h (5 days) at each of the three pH values. Reaction rate constants and half-lives could not be calculated because the substance underwent no significant hydrolysis. A half-life of > 1 year can be assumed for ambient temperature conditions (Lange J, 2010).
