Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: Directive XI/681/86/EEC, draft 4
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The chronic toxicity of the test substance to Daphnia magna was investigated in a 21 day semistatic test.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
The concentration control analysis was conducted by extraction of the test substance with Freon (1,1,2-trifluorotrichloroethane) from the water samples.
Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
The test was performed with an aqueous extract (eluate) prepared with 10 mg/L. The test substance was reduced to small pieces by means of a mortar, an appropriate amount weighed out and suspended in test medium by stirring for 24 hours. Then, the suspension was filtered.
Test organisms (species):
Daphnia magna
Details on test organisms:
- Age of the animals at the start of the test: 2-24 hours
- Age of stock animals: 2-4 weeks
Test type:
semi-static
