Additional information

A seedling emergence and seedling growth study according to OECD 208 was performed with three plant species (Avena sativa, Brassus napus, Vicia sativa) under GLP (BASF SE, 2009; Report No. 65E0496/013029).

The test material Glyoxal 40% showed no toxic effects to the plant Avena sativa. All test parameters resulted in an EC50 of > 400 mg a.i./kg dw soil. The NOEC was 400 mg a.i./kg dw soil and the LOEC was > 400 mg a.i./kg dw soil. Corrected for 3.4% standard soil organic matter content, this corresponds to EC50of > 618mg a.i./kg dw soil, a NOEC of 618 mg a.i./kg dw soil and a LOEC of > 618 mg a.i./kg dw soil.

For Brassica napus, all test parameters resulted in an EC50 of >400 mg a.i./kg dw soil. A NOEC of 203 mg a.i./kg dw soil was found for dry as well as for fresh weight of the plants. The LOEC for dry and fresh weight was 400 mg a.i./kg dw soil. Corrected for 3.4% standard soil organic matter content, this corresponds to EC50of > 618mg a.i./kg dw soil, a NOEC of 314 mg a.i./kg dw soil and a LOEC of 618 mg a.i./kg dw soil.

For Vicia sativa, all test parameters resulted in an EC50 of >400 mg a.i./kg dw soil. A NOEC of 203 mg a.i./kg dw soil was found for dry as well as for fresh matter of the plants. The LOEC for the dry and fresh matter was 400 mg a.i./kg dw soil. Corrected for 3.4% standard soil organic matter content, this corresponds toEC50of > 618mg a.i./kg dw soil, a NOEC of 314 mg a.i./kg dw soil and a LOEC of 618 mg a.i./kg dw soil.
