Additional information

Short-term toxicity tests are available for all three trophic levels (fish, invertebrates and algae). The 96 -hour LC50 in zebra fish is 12 mg/L, the 48 -hour EC50 in Daphnia magna is 60.2 mg/L, and the 72 -hour ErC50 and NOErC in algae are 46.2 mg/L and 3.2 mg/L, respectively. In an activated sludge respiration inhibition test a 3-hour IC50 value of >1000 mg/L was observed. Testing indicates that the test substance is not rapidly degradable (biotic and/or abiotic). The Koc value of 18 L/kg, as estimated by HPLC, is used in the equilibrium partitioning method for calculations of the PNEC values for sediments and soil.

Conclusion on classification

The critical EC50-value of the test substance is determined at 12 mg/L (short-term toxicity study in fish). As in addition, the test substance is determined as being not readily biodegradable, the test substance is to be classified as Aquatic Chronic category 3 (H412) according to the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. For the same reasons, according to the criteria in Directive 67/548/EEC, the substance is classified as R52/53.
