Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation: In the case of generation of gas (toxic vapours) remove the person out of the danger zone using a self-contained breathing apparatus. Move the patient to fresh air and keep at rest. In the event of symptoms obtain medical treatment.
Skin contact: After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. Immediate medical treatment is necessary as untreated wounds from corrosion of the skin heal slowly and with difficulty.
Eye contact: In case of contact with the eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of water or with an eye-cleaning solution. Call a physician immediately.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Rinse out mouth and give plenty of water to drink. Call a physician immediately.
Notes to Physician
Symptoms: Eye and mucous membrane irritation
Risks: Risk of stomach perforation. Risk of pulmonary oedema.
Treatment: Initial treatment should be symptomatic and supportive. By irritation of the lungs: First treatment with Corticord-Spray, e.g.Auxilon, Pulmicort - Dosing aerosol. (Auxilon and Pulmicort are registered Trade Marks)
Oxygen, if needed.
When swallowed, if necessary flush stomach.
Fire-fighting measures
Specific hazards during fire fighting
In the event of fire the following can be released: carbon monoxide (CO), phosphorus oxides (eg phosphorus pentoxide)
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear full protective suit. In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes.
Accidental release measures
Environmental Precautions: Do not discharge into the drains/surface water/groundwater. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
Methods for Cleaning Up: Dilute with water. Do not pick up with the help of saw-dust or other combustible substances. Take up with absorbent material (e.g. sand, earth or a proprietary absorbent material). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Pump up larger quantities.
Handling and storage
Handling
Advice on safe handling: Refill and handle product only in closed system. Provide suitable exhaust ventilation at processing machines.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion: The product is combustible. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Danger of ignition due to decomposition to Methylphosphine.
Temperature class T3
Storage
Requirements for storage areas and containers: Store in original container. Protect against heat/overheating. Keep under dry inert gas. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Make sure that storage location is designed for the storage of spontaneously flammable substances.
Advice on common storage: Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. Do not store with acids or alkaline substances.
German storage class 8AL Combustible corrosive liquids
Storage stability
Storage period : 12 Months
Storage temperature: 20 - 30 °C
Suitable materials
Store in original container.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Personal protective equipment
Respiratory Protection: Breathing apparatus in the event of aerosol or mist formation. Self-contained breathing apparatus. Short term: filter apparatus, multi-purpose filter ABEK
Hand Protection: Gloves (acid-resistant), nitrile rubber, Neoprene gloves
Eye protection: goggles, face-shield
Skin and body protection
Acid-resistant protective clothing.
Wear as appropriate: complete head face and neck protection
Hygiene measures: Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time. Remove soiled clothing immediately. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. When removing product, ensure that none is left on the outer packaging. Avoid contact of the substance.
Protective measures: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not inhale vapours. When product comes into contact with humidity, use a breathing apparatus.
Stability and reactivity
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Methyl phosphin
Thermal decomposition: > 230 °C (DSC)
Hazardous Reactions: Risk of ignition on contact with organic substances. Forms through hydrolysis in water Methanphosphonic acid. This chemical is autoflammable from 215 °C.
Disposal considerations
Do not dispose of waste into sewer. Must be incinerated in a suitable incineration plant holding a permit delivered by the competent authorities.
Harmful emissions must be removed by flue gas scrubbing. In case of problems, please contact the manufacturer.
Contaminated packaging
Empty remaining contents. Triple rinse containers. Empty containers should be taken for local recycling or waste disposal. Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste. Uncontaminated packaging material may be taken for recycling.
