Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
weight of evidence
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Results of the Premiminary test:

Briefburning and rapid extinction was observed.

Main test:

Omitted due to result of preliminary test.

Interpretation of the results:

The test substance is not considered highly flammable.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information

Description of key information

The substance is a non flammable solid
The substance has no pyrophoric properties and does not liberate flammable gases on contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The flammability of the read across substance (2-Propenoic acid, C18-22-alkyl esters, a mixture of CAS no 4813-57-4, 48076-38-6 and 18299-85-9) was assessed according to EU Method A.10 and was found to be not readily combustible. Based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties and flammability in contact with water are not predicted. (BASF SE 2011).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Burning rate at 20 °C: 2 (brief ignition, rapid extinction) ---> substance is not redaily combustible (no classification)
