- REPORTING FORMAT FOR THE ANALOGUE APPROACH
The target substance TOS is an oxime silane that undergoes rapid hydrolysis in aqueous to MEKO and the corresponding silanol. At the same time, silanols undergo continuous condensation reaction to produce higher molecular weight siloxanes which are in the molecular weight range large enough to be considered biologically unavailable. Therefore, the toxicity of TOS is due to the hydrolysis product MEKO and their values are comparable.

- Details on results:
- Based on the experimental results obtained with the analogue substance butanone oxime (72h EC50 =16 mg/L, NOEC = 2.60 mg/L ), the read-across approach is applied and the 72h EC50 and NOEC for butan-2-one O,O',O'',O'''-silanetetrayltetraoxime were calculated to be 17.1 mg/L and 2.78 mg/L respectively.
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- not applicable
- Conclusions:
- Based on read-across approach from experimental results on analogue butanone oxime, the 72h-EC50 and 72h-NOEC based on algae growth rate for butan-2-one O,O',O'',O'''-silanetetrayltetraoxime was determined to be 17.10 mg/L and 2.78 mg/L respectively.
- Executive summary:
An Algal Growth Inhibition Test was performed on analogue substance butanone oxime by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment in accordance with OECD TG 201. The 72h-EC50 and 72h-NOEC based on algae (Selenastrum capricornutum) growth rate was determined to be 16 mg/L and 2.6 mg/L respectively. Based on these results the read-across approach was performed and the 72h -EC50 and 72h-NOEC based on algae growth rate for butan-2-one O,O',O'',O'''-silanetetrayltetraoxime was determined to be 17.10 mg/L and 2.78 mg/L respectively.

Additional information
Key study: Read-across approach from analogue butanone oxime:
Based on the read-across approach from experimental results on analogue butanone oxime (test method OECD 201, 72h-EC50 = 16 mg/L and 72h-NOEC = 2.6, based on algae growth rate), the algae 72h -EC50 and 72h-NOEC for butan-2-one O,O',O'',O'''-silanetetrayltetraoxime was determined to be 17.10 mg/L and 2.78 mg/L (basis for effect: growth rate) respectively.
