Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Grammaticakis (1949) reported a value for the boiling point that was not determined at atmospheric pressure, as as such is disregarded. The original report wasn't available, thus the study was included only for the purpose of sharing all available existing information.

Eller (1922) measured a value of 262 °C after recrystallization of the substance. The method is not described however, the melting point was also measured and lends further credibility to the results.

Wegscheider (1897) and Anschütz (1895) published an experimental boiling point value of 262 °C at 101.8 kPa (converted by the registrant). The test method is not available but the value is in good agreement with other available data.

A recent guideline study (O'Connor 2014) reported DSC data with onset of decomposition, and boiling point at 263 ± 1 °C (536 ± 1 K) at 101.9 kPa. The study was carried out according to recent guidelines and methods, and is considered to be adequate and reliable for the purpose of risk assessment and classification. The value 263 °C is selected to be carried forward for risk assessment, classification and labelling.
