Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance is readily biodegradable and has a BCF value in the range 178 to 3010. It is therefore bioaccumulative (B) but not very bioaccumulative (vB).

Additional information

Softanol 30 has been tested and found to be readily biodegradable in both the MITI test (OECD 301C, Mitsubishi, 2006, report no. A060107) and in the respirometer test (OECD 301F LISEC, 1998, report no. WB-08 -043).

A hydrolysis test has not been conducted because the substance is readily biodegradable and a study is not therefore required according to REACH Annex VII 9.2.2.1.

The Chemical Safety Report indicates low emission of Softanol 30 to the aquatic compartment and the substance is readily biodegradable with low toxicity. It is therefore proposed to waive this study and use BCF estimated using EPISuite BCFBAF v3.01. BCF has been estimated to be in the range 178 to 3010. The maximum value occurs for substance components with Log Pow 7.1. The substance is bioaccumulative (B) but not very bioaccumulative (vB).
