Additional information

Skin irritation:

In the key study according to Fed. Reg. 38, No. 187, 1973 the undiluted test material was irritating to the skin, when applied for 24 hours to the intact skin of six rabbits under occlusive conditions (BASF AG, 1986). Erythema and edema were observed in all animals. The observed erythema were not fully reversible, whereas the observed edema were fully reversible within 15 days.

Eye irritation:

In a study according to Fed. Reg. 38, No. 187, 1973, the instillation of 0.1 ml undiluted test material into one eye of each of six White Vienna rabbits resulted in a slight, fully reversible irritation response in the conjunctivae (redness max. score 2 and chemosis max. score 1; BASF AG, 1986). No wash-out of the test material was performed. After application of the test material a 8 -day observation period followed. Based on the observed irritation scores at the readings 24 h, 48 h and 72 h after test item application it is concluded that the substance is not irritating to the eye.
